I grew up in Knoxville, TN where I swam competitively from the age of 7 through High School. I started my coaching career while attend college at the University of Tennessee. I was a summer league coach and a high school coach for 5 years while I got my degree in Early Elementary Education. I am married to Matt Fleenor, who is now a physics professor at the University of Mary Washington. Our oldest is Anna Clare who swam at Kenyon College for the past 4 years. Our son is going into his junior year and is swimming at Mary Washington and our youngest just graduated high school and will be swimming at the University of Lynchburg. We moved to Salem, VA in 2006 and I began coaching for the YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge team ( now called the Riptides) in 2007. In 2019, I took on the full time position of Aquatics Director, but kept my roll with the swim team as the head site coach at the Salem YMCA branch. I have loved my 17 years of coaching here and I have been a part of growing this team from 30 members to over 200. In my time I have worked with all age groups but have spent most of my time coaching age group and senior group. In Salem, l also coached for the summer league team, Stonegate Gators, where I was able to lead this team to the RVAA Championship, something they had not achieved in over 40 years. I also have highly enjoyed coaching for Salem High School for the past 10 years. I have a passion for swimming, keeping it fun and helping others develop into the best versions of themselves!
