Swim Meet 101

For the 2023 Swim Season, the FCC Buccaneers are participating in the Rappahannock Swim League (RSL), so please be aware that we will comply with all RSL rules and regulations.

As soon as possible:

Parents will need to declare that their child will be participating the the meet before they will be placed in any events. These need to be finalized by noon the day before a meet.

The day before a meet:

Coaches will place swimmers that have registered for the meet into events that they feel the swimmer will be most successful. Entries will be sent to the RSL and the meet will be seeded that night by 8 p.m.

The day of the meet

Swimmers will be given their events. It is important to note that at this point it is not possible to add events for your swimmer's list or alter their placement in any way. This is an RSL that was established in 2018. Swimmers should attend practice and make sure they are ready for the night's meet.

Parents please have your swimmer at the pool by 4:45 for a home meet and 5:15 for an away meet. This will allow the swimmer to be ready for warm ups and get a spot on the deck. Parents when you arrive on the pool deck please escort your swimmer to our designated area and make sure that they have located the coach and checked in with her. At this time parents need to check in with the volunteer coordinator so that we know we have all of our volunteers.

Please make sure to bring

  • water bottles labeled with your swimmer's name
  • towels
  • goggles
  • swim cap
  • positive attitude
  • snacks
  • cash for snack bar
