RSL National Division Finals
July 17th
Hello Swim Team Families,
I've heard that there are some families that may be interested in attending the National Division Finals meet this season. If you are interested, please read the below email and reply answering the below listed questions.
Info: Finals is on Saturday, July 30th. The RSL website shows the meet will start at 8am. Warmups would be sometime in the 7 o'clock hour. The divisions have planned each meet to last approximately 4-5 hours. I would estimate ours to be around the four hour mark, most likely a little shorter.
Location - The meet will be held at the Chancellor Pool. Grafton is also attending. I was told a few families from Idlewild also plan to attend.
Rules - A swimmer can only swim an event in finals if they have swam that event twice during the season and have not been DQ'ed. There will be an A division and B division. The C division was removed this year. Since there are different divisions with scoring, this give A swimmers and B swimmers the opportunity to place .
For example: A swimmers and B swimmers can still technically get 1st place for the same event. This is great because this gives the B swimmer the opportunity to earn a high place!
Requirements - All families with a swimmer participating are required to work at least half of the meet. The jobs are different than normal swim meet jobs. They range from parking attendant, to safety monitor (in the bathrooms), to concessions, to a set number of certified jobs per team (Stroke and Turn, Referee, Starter, Data, Score Keeper, and Clerk of the Course).
Practices* - Will continue July 25 - 29th.
*If there is enough interest in competing at finals, practices will proceed until Friday, July 29th. However, if we decide to not swim at finals because we cannot meet requirements, then practices will continue until Friday, July 22nd*
Questions-
1. Name of swimmer that would like to swim
2. Name of parent working at the meet
3. Name of the RSL required training the parent completed
Please note: For the 2023 season, the FCC Buccaneers are planning to have a full season. It will consist of six dual meets and attendance at Finals.
Thanks,
Kim
