Swim Team Season - 5 days away!
Hello Swim Team families -
In five short days, the 2023 season officially begins. Many hours have already gone into planning a great season. We hope everyone is excited! Our first practice is Tuesday, May 30th. The 10 and Unders will practice from 5-6pm. The 11+ will practice from 6-7pm.
In order for our team to have a successful season, all families must step up and volunteer their time at swim meets. Every family is required to be trained in one of the jobs that require training. That does not mean you must do that job at every meet. It just means we need to have enough trained families to fill all roles.
I am going to copy my previous email below regarding training:
We have finally received clarification regarding RSL training for the 2023 season. There is good news and not so great news... The good news is ALL required training is now online. No more sitting at in-person sessions. The not so great news is that training is required yearly. If you trained last year, you must train again this year. The FCC requirement is that every family must train at least one family member in at least one of the "training required" positions this season. At meet time, you are going to be able to sign up for any and all of the below positions.
The below jobs require training:
Referee
Starter
Head Timer
Stroke and Turn Judge
Scorer
Clerk of the Course
The below jobs do NOT require training.
Data Entry
Relay Coordinator
Announcer
Lane Timer
Awards Clerk
Runner
Meet setup/take-down
STEPS for Training:
Review the jobs and their descriptions on our website:
https://ccbuccaneers.
Determine which job(s) will suit your family.
Please visit the RSL website, then click Training Info, and scroll to the respective job. You must complete the training and receive a quiz score of 80 or above before performing the duties for the position at a swim meet.
Once you have completed the required RSL training, the directions instruct you to submit the RSL Registration form on the training page. You will then receive a confirmation email from the RSL. Please forward the confirmation email to [email protected]. Include the name of the training session(s) you have passed. We will be maintaining a list of all families and the completed training. I will share that list with everyone to ensure accuracy and transparency.
Needed Positions:
Last season, we had lots of families train for Clerk of the Course - which is great and certainly needed. On the other hand, we had two families train for Stroke and Turn, two families train for Starter, and two families train for Referee. I encourage families to step up and train for some of these needed positions. Especially if you are an experienced swim team family. If you are new to swim team and don't know what to do, please reach out to me so I can help you determine a good fit.
Finally, registration is still open - encourage your friends to sign up! We currently have around 87 registered swimmers. Last summer we hit 100!
Feel free to let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
